The news around the web this past weekend was about the future launch of Flickr in localized format, Chinese. Finally, a local language! As much as I like the current multilingual greetings when you log in, it’s just isn’t a 100% localized, meaning the greetings are still in English. This is good news and I really hope I can get to see the inner workings of Flickr Hong Kong. To be honest, it’ll be a little strange seeing Flickr in Chinese, I can only imagine it looking like Yupoo, the Flickr clone in China. It looks like they parted ways with the Flickr color theme, but the inner pages remain similar.

Besides the existing core Flickr functions and social aspects, I am curious to know if there will be any UI changes or just straight translations, like what Zooomr does. Also, I wonder if they will offer print services here, like Moo. It’d be awesome if they have services lined up already, I mean there are tons of printers here but about how many are able and willing to manage online orders is another question because ecommerce does not exist in Hong Kong.
