EditGrid - Dynamic Images feature

EditGrid has released a new feature, Dynamic Images, to their already powerful online spreadsheet application. What makes this new release even more powerful aside from the dynamically generated images, is that it allows the users to create their own mashups, in a spreadsheet.
They have rolled out two fun examples that pays homage to Statsaholic. They are Stockaholic and Weatherholic. Now you too can roll out your own “___-aholic” site/mashup with their latest Dynamic Images feature.
Stockaholic is a simple stock comparison spreadsheet that lets you compare stocks traded in the US stock market using only the Yahoo! Finance graphs. Weatherholic, on the other hand, demonstrates the power of the dynamic images feature, generating multiple images on the fly by accessing various weather resources. Each of these examples provide instructions and the location of where the datasources are from. It appears though that there isn’t any use of the APIs or requires the use of APIs when making your own mashup, thus creating these unique spreadsheets would be a much simpler task.
Even with their already powerful online spreadsheet, EditGrid has taken their spreadsheet to another level. Spreadsheet basics such as performing calculations, graphs and pie charts and your monthly TPS reports are things of the past. Now, you can use cell formulas and references to generate the images on the fly and make exciting spreadsheet mashups.
Mashups in a spreadsheet is something new (to me) and it allows for the users to be more creative in using the vast resources out there to create fun and useful spreadsheets. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of spreadsheets people will come up with.
