I was at a Web 2.0 seminar here in Hong Kong yesterday and heard more from speakers about what Web 2.0 is and isn’t. This was the pattern of the previous conference and this seminar. However, this seminar did include a company, m-gen, that discussed Mobile 2.0 topics. Mobile 2.0 in Hong Kong is a topic that I have yet to touch on and profile. I do know (ok, I lied, it’s more like an assumption) that there aren’t too many startups here and the market is up for grabs to anyone.

As for the turnout, it was only mediocre but was happy to meet Rebecca MacKinnon and others who I’ve only contacted via email before this event. Rebecca has an excellent writeup, in detail about the seminar on her site.

While the recent events are informational for the local companies, this type of information has hit a dead end. It’s time Hong Kong move on and start getting to the meat of next generation web.
