FoodLily - microblog your dining experience

FoodLily is a microblogging tool for foodies (that’s just about everyone) in Hong Kong. According to their site, you can locate restaurants, rate them, reserve seats and invite others to join you at your dinner table. The site already has a sizable restaurant database covering Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories. Although there is an English version, it only applies to the interface and the content (restaurant names, reviews, etc) is mostly in Chinese.
Food/dining review sites aren’t new here, in fact already quite popular here are FoodEasy and Openrice being the go to guides in Hong Kong, but FoodLily is the first use microblogging as the delivery platform. We’ll see how microblogging on-the-go plays out here since microblogging is a rather new concept here and most people still prefer to talk instead of type on the mobiles.
The service is integrated with Google Maps and it’s helpful since I’ve noticed it recently has the ability to recognize local address, directions and landmarks. They’ve also optimized it for the iPhone which has its pluses and minuses, but the biggest minus being the availability of iPhones here and free public wifi access, although GPRS will do as well. It works great but there’s still some cosmetics to deal with. And unfortunately for me, I don’t have personally have an iPhone and I don’t use mobile to to go online.
The creators of FoodLily, Daayu, is another web startup which I have looked at a while back but not yet to cover.
