6 waves - SNS app publisher

Knowing that Facebook is a hot property in Hong Kong, couple Yahoo! HK alums started 6 waves and launched it in the start of 2008. The goal of 6waves is to deliver media campaigns to social networks, currently Facebook, much like RockYou and Slide.
Looking through their website, they are serving exclusively to the Facebook market with over 30 Facebook applications. Considering the widget and application market is in its infancy (here in HK and Asia), more opportunities should be arising soon. Besides just focusing on Facebook apps, diving into OpenSocial and developing widgets for Friendster wouldn’t be a bad move either.
It appears more and more local companies are testing the Facebook waters by placing ads. I can see a definite increase in interest from local and MNC in HK to add their own branded applications and widgets. In fact, they have developed one branded application for MOOV, a media division of PCCW.
6 waves appears to be the first to push this into Hong Kong and I’d like to see them succeed. It’s not too late in the game here and I don’t expect Facebook Fatigue to settle in like it has or suggested in the US. You’ll probably see one or two more, but I don’t expect to see too many other SNS application developers startups here. Eventually, I do expect to see the local design houses offer this type of service to their clients and trying to cash in on this platform, if they haven’t already.
